COLLECTION

05 RAW COMPLEXION

“Find out what makes you kinder, what opens you up and brings out the most loving, generous and unafraid version of you - and go after those things as if nothing else matters. Because, actually, nothing else does.” George Sanders

We find ourselves craving the rawness of nature. The simplicity of fragility and openness. Buffed back to expose their gritty textures, these clays are raw and tactile, while honouring the soft feminine curves that imbue every one of Studio LB pieces.

“The collection was inspired by this George Sanders quote and I hope what brings out the most loving, generous and unafraid version of us all, is stripping our lives back to the simplest of things, and being comfortable in our own skin.”

“We wanted to celebrate nature and natural beauty. I loved following Pamela Anderson’s make-up free Paris Fashion Week and I wanted a shoot without hair and make up, just a natural, confident model as the face of the collection. We wanted a shoot that would complement the simplicity of the raw claysused,” says Boisselet, who still sculpts and paints every piece by hand.

Studio LB is the lockdown-hobby-turned-full-time-job of photojournalist Lilli Boisselet. After losing her job as the pandemic took hold, she returned to her Interior Design roots, sculpting clay on her kitchen table. She dedicated the brand to the moments we missed most in lockdowns - sharing connectionswith loved ones - a sentiment that has resonated with her customer base.

“I always wanted to create the pieces that would be there as the big moments of connection happened in our lives. The ice buckets for the champagne to celebrate an engagement; the vase for the ‘I’m sorry I was hangry, but I love you endlessly’ flowers; the serving ware for the gatherings of old friends; theoyster plates for the celebration of another year around the sun; the candlesticks for nights of passion.”

With a simple styling selection of crochet from All The Remains, delicate floral prints and natural fibres from Melbourne boutique Before March and linens from Matin Studio, the shoot is an ode to the imperfections of nature with it’s blurred captures and soft colour palette.

“Awar was perfect for this campaign. She has a quiet confidence that transcends beauty trends, elegant feminine curves and a natural kindness to her. She arrived dewy faced with freshly washed hair and moved like the most graceful dancer. She’s a dream to shoot with.”
