"It's a story of resilience, of creativity nurtured amidst uncertainty, and of a businesswoman navigating uncharted waters with grace and determination. "

Tell us about your thoughts & feelings about being pregnant as a female photographer?

As I stand behind the lens, framing moments frozen in time, I must look at this as a new narrative that's about to unfold in my life—a story that blends the artistry of photography with the profound experience of pregnancy, femininity and my creative flow as a woman.

When the news arrived that I was pregnant, a mixture of emotions consumed me. I felt excitement, apprehension, fear and a deep sense of new responsibility. Professionally, at 34 years I was exactly where I wanted to be. I felt afraid that I would lose this balanced, creative life that I was so acquainted with and loved.

Pregnancy is so often looked upon as a career ender in the creative industry. Unsurprisingly, I thought everything I had worked so hard for could easily come to a halt. How could someone who had worked tirelessly suddenly be expected to give all that up in order to take the step into motherhood?

I thought, why should this fear of losing my career and professional identity be a reality for me…and instead, I considered how to embrace both the woman I am now and the woman I am to become as I step into motherhood.

Many people questioned how I would manage, recalling the initial reactions from friends and clients. But instead of seeing it as a challenge, I saw it as an opportunity to bring a fresh perspective to my work and embrace the joy of motherhood - a new journey.

Clients are the lifeblood of any business, especially in a creative field where trust and connection are paramount. Yet, as my belly grows, so does a quiet concern about how my pregnancy might affect my professional image.

Navigating these uncertainties requires a delicate dance of reassurance and determination. I find myself working twice as hard to communicate my commitment to excellence, despite the physical changes I'm experiencing. I then realised that is what this business is about.

Being a female in the creative world genuinely means you hold and embody these personality traits and it doesn't matter what challenges you are about to face in your life, you always overcome them.

All my female work friends are super women, super mums and honestly inspire me daily and that is what this is about.

Not only that, I also surprisingly found myself continually empowered by my female clients who show comraderie, community and offer so much support.

Ignorant of what hormonal shifts look like in the body I was pleasantly surprised.. The high of this hormone hit in the 2nd trimester, and it stimulated my creative flow.
I found it was still balanced with the hormonal nourishments that nature gives women through this experience.

I was in bloom. I wanted to drown myself in the ocean of creative ideas.
There's a rushing river of inspiration that flows through you.

Pregnancy has heightened my sensitivity to life's fleeting moments—the tender embrace of a family, the quiet intensity of humanity that is captured in a photograph.

These moments, frozen in time, serve as a poignant reminder of why I chose this path—to document life in its myriad forms, to preserve memories that transcend generations, and of course to be in touch with my femininity through my art form.

What are your next steps for this life change?

As I prepare for the arrival of my little one, I embrace the duality of my journey—a photographer capturing the beauty of life, working along side talented teams and creative community that fill my cup up. Holding strong in my independence and allowing me to step into my feminine strength, while simultaneously experiencing its most profound transformation.

I also have to learn to adopt my new body and understand all female forms are magnificent like the talents that cross my lens daily. It's a story of resilience, of creativity nurtured amidst uncertainty, and of a businesswoman navigating uncharted waters with grace and determination.

However, it is also knowing I have a strong beautiful partner who allows me to flourish in my new motherly role but also wants me to pursue my creative work.

And through it all, I am reminded that the lens through which we view the world can capture not just images, but the essence of what it means to embrace change and celebrate new beginnings - without fear but rather an open heart in full bloom.

Because this is the life of a female.
